1. 1.（権威・規則・困難などに）従わない、反抗する動B1 Intermediate

   • The students decided to defy the school's strict rules.

     生徒たちは学校の厳しい規則に従わないことを決めた。

   • She will defy anyone who tries to control her life.

     彼女は自分の人生をコントロールしようとする者には誰にでも反抗するだろう。

   • Despite the danger, they chose to defy the storm.

2. 2.（不可能と思われることを）あえてする、～をものともしない動B2 Upper Intermediate

   • The small boat defied the storm and reached the shore safely.
